Stress, Money, Confidence — Women Share What Keeps Them From Feeling Happy

The road to happiness is paved with a mix of internal and external pressures that can help create, delay or prevent happiness. As part of the POPSUGAR Insights "Find Your Happy" study, we surveyed women to better understand what keeps them from being happy.

Stress (71%) is the No. 1 thing that women feel prevents them from finding their happy. Stress is more likely to impact teenage girls (80%), students (76%), and single women (74%). Perhaps connected, or contributing to stress, not having enough money was cited by 60% of women overall.

A woman's self image can have a direct impact on her overall happiness, and over half (51%) of women said that a not having enough confidence prevents them from being happy. This was true of teen girls (70%), women aged 18-24 (57%), women without children (57%), and unmarried women (57%). Other challenges related to a woman's self image include the feeling of having too many personal problems (51%), not enough time (44%), and not enough support (40%). A feeling of a lack of time or support was especially prevalent in teen girls between the ages of 13-17.
